Understanding Challenges at GetMega

I started my career at GetMega as a Game Tester, working on a live rummy application where every bug could impact thousands of real users instantly. Early challenges included complex issues like cards flipping unexpectedly face down, assets failing to load, timer inconsistencies, and matchmaking glitches that left players stranded during games.

Tackling Complex Bugs with Analytical Precision

The card flip bug was particularly tricky—players’ drawn cards would sometimes flip back face down, making them invisible. Through meticulous testing, I pinpointed the exact user actions triggering this—the rapid sequence of tapping and grouping cards—and documented the reproduction clearly for developers. This enabled a successful fix after five weeks of focused effort.

A matchmaking bug was also critical

players got stuck alone at tables without cards, yet had their balance deducted. I reported this promptly, facilitating a quick patch within two weeks that ensured stable room selection and restored trust.

Beyond Bugs : Driving User Engagement and Ensuring Fair Play

I monitored player traffic to identify peak and off-peak hours, creating daily reports with strategies to boost engagement during quieter periods. I occasionally played alongside isolated users to stimulate activity and community.

I detected and banned six players abusing multiple accounts for unfair advantages, preserving fairness. Additionally, I supported marketing campaigns including a YouTuber live stream, helping manage new user engagement, which contributed to a 4% user increase and a 10% retention rise.
